Otto F. Goetzl, 85, of Conyngham, passed away, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Gardens at Butler Nursing Home, Drums, following a two-year illness. Born in Zlin, Czech Republic, December 26, 1932, he was the son of the late Otto F. and Marie (Kroupova) Goetzl, Sr He immigrated as a child, settling in Maryland, when his family answered the call for skilled workers in the shoe industry with many other Czech families.

Otto studied at the University of Maryland and was a skilled draftsman. He worked as a Plant Manager for Progressive Services, Harrisburg; United Die, Hazleton; and Poly-Hi Solidur, Scranton. He served in the US Army, before marrying his wife of 60 years.

Otto spent the past 46 years in Conyngham after moving from Camp Hill, where he was a member of the Jaycees. He was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf and spent many hours with his involvement in the Conyngham Lions Club for many years and served on the Conyngham Borough Council. He enjoyed family vacations, drawing, making furniture, football and and fishing.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Vera Streit, whose family also immigrated from the Czech Republic the two were married on June 7, 1958. Also surviving are three daughters Vicki Wolfe and her husband Jeff, Conyngham; Cindy Houser and her husband Morry, Bloomsburg; and Tina Zilz and her husband Tony, Bloomsburg; five grandchildren Gary and Carl Wolfe, Faustino Rivera, Audrey and Logan Zilz; a sister Paula Leishman and her husband John, Bel Air, MD; and several nieces and nephews. He was a devoted father and husband, knowledgeable in so many areas, he could have a conversation with anyone, and liked by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the church, Friday morning from 9 am until the time of the Mass.
