Obituary for Patricia “Patty” Marti Beautiful beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, Patty Marti departed peacefully in the company of family on the morning of 10-15-2018. She was born Patricia Kathryn Allen on 10-25-1946 in Jackson, MI to Arthur and Margaret Allen (Lusk). She was the oldest of four children.

Patty graduated from St. Mary High School in Jackson on 06-07-1964. She then worked as a teller and performed data-entry at a savings and loan in Jackson until 1967 when she moved to Saginaw, MI where she attended Delta College and worked at Catholic Family Services from 1967 to 1969. During this time, she married George Walter Marti on 12-30-1967.

They were joyfully married 24 years until George passed away on 02-22-1992. From this union was born their children, Adam and Sarah. Patty worked as the bookkeeper in George’s Bridgeport law office, Haines and Marti from 1976 to 1992.

Following that, she worked at Shinners & Cook as an Administrative Coordinator between 1993 and 1997, and then served as property manager of Lawndale Estates. In 2003, she began working for Saginaw County in the Friend of the Court office where she formed many dear friendships. In 2014, she retired to enjoy her garden and her grandchildren, Bailey Marti, Cameron Coates, Jack Marti and Parker Coates.

Patty attended St. Christopher’s Church in Bridgeport, then St. Helen’s Church and St. Stephen’s in Saginaw. She was active in Republican politics, serving as the treasurer and vice-president of the Saginaw area Republican Women chapter. She served as a Saginaw County precinct delegate in elections between 1976 and 1984, and worked locally in several presidential campaigns as well as numerous state and local campaigns.

She also served as a member of the Saginaw County Lawyer’s Auxiliary between 1967 and 1992, the Bridgeport Public Library Board of Directors, and the Bridgeport Public Library Capital Building Fund Board of Directors. In 1991, she was appointed to the Saginaw County Family Independence Agency Board of Directors, a position she held until 2000. During her life, Patty made many lifelong friends in Bridgeport and Saginaw that gave her great joy and for which she was always thankful.

She enjoyed traveling up north with George and her children each year. She also loved gardening, reading, cooking, and baking with her grandchildren. She was cherished by her husband, and loved by her children, grandchildren and family.

She never failed to give fully of herself and her time to her family and those around her that she saw in need. She had a generous heart, a gentle humility and a devotion to kindness. To the end, she was described by those who met her as a sweetheart.

She is survived by her children: Adam Marti and Sarah Coates; her son-in-law, Brian Coates; her grandchildren: Bailey Marti, Cameron Coates, Jack Marti and Parker Coates; her sister, Beatrice Etzel and her husband, David Etzel, their children: Justin Etzel and Amy Cottrell; her brother, Mark Allen and his wife, Debbie Allen; her brother Michael’s child, Jeff Allen; her sister-in-law, Joyce Richter and her husband, Edwin Richter; their children: Paul Richter, Debra McGee and Walter Richter. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Margaret and Arthur Allen; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edna and Walter Marti; her brother, Michael Allen; and her husband, George Marti. Her Shih Tzu, Elliot has been passed into the care of family.

The family especially wishes to thank the staff of St. Francis Home in Saginaw for their compassion and care in her final days. FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).

Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate.

Burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Visitation will be held at Deisler Funereal Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: Memorials in Patty’s name can be made to the Saginaw County Animal Shelter.
