Patrick Larry Harris February 8, 1949 ~ January 14, 2019 Patrick Larry Harris, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 at the age of 69. He was born February 8, 1949 in Miami, Florida to Oley Lee and Lida Mae Carter Harris. He was the third of four children.

He attended Miami Norland Senior High School where he excelled as a gymnast. His skills in gymnastics earned him a scholarship to the University of Utah. Prior to his schooling, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Pacific Northwest Mission.

There he taught the gospel and served the people of Washington State, making many lifelong friends along the way. After his mission. Pat returned to Salt Lake City and traveled between Miami and Salt Lake City for the next few years.

He met the love of his life and eternal companion, Connie Widdison in 1976. It was love at first sight and they were married just ten short weeks after they met. Pat considered himself lucky to have Connie and her two daughters as his.

Just two years later he was able to adopt the girls and the entire family was sealed together as an eternal family on September 22, 1978. Their family continued to grow and they were blessed in total with four boys and four girls. Hard work and determination were the hallmarks of Pat’s life.

There wasn’t any engine he couldn’t fix and he spent much of his spare time working on everything from sewing machines to cars. He served in various callings, including Bishop, in his ward in West Valley City, Utah until 1999 when the family moved north to Connie’s home town of Hooper, Utah. They built their home of 19 years with their own hands, from foundation to roof shingles.

When they moved to Hooper they were finally able to have the garden they had always wanted. Gardening became a huge part of their lives, blessing many families with their bounty. Another lifelong love for Pat was fishing.

He enjoyed all types of fishing, and fished in rivers, lakes and oceans. He was able to fish from Mexico to Alaska and everywhere in between. He joyed in his 29 (one more on the way) grandchildren and went to great lengths to make sure they had fun with grandpa.

His generous heart is what his grandchildren will remember most. Pat is survived by his loving wife, Connie; their eight children, spouses and children, Christine (Dave) Morrison, Carlene (Aaron) Martin, Robert (Heather) Harris, Michelle (Mark) Minson, Terrie (Isaac) Skaggs, Larry (Ann Marie) Harris, Skipper Harris, and Mark Harris; one brother, Mike (Joann) Harris, sister, Debbie (Frank) Fragnant, and brother-in-law, Ken Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Shenandoah Ward, 5375 South 5900 West, Hooper. The family will meet with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
