Nacerio “Nace” Roy Martinez September 9, 1928 ~ January 5, 2019 Nacerio “Nace” Roy Manrtinez, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2019. He was born on September 9, 1928 in Canyon City, CO, the son of Briggado and Rosie L. Roy Martinez. He enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably during World War II later the Korean War, during which he was wounded in the battle; a purple heart recipient.

Nace made his career in the mining and construction, carpentry, and cement finish. With these skills he lovingly served his family, friends, church, and community. Nace married Mabel Diana Maez and they raised six children.

He loved his wife and children. Mabel passed on March 19, 1991. Later he met and married Barbara Lorraine Zeitler Young.

They enjoyed family trips together, but mostly just relaxed at home. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and the mountains. Nace is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Bobby (Drusilla) Martinez, Ogden; Tommy (Mildred) Martinez, Magna; Nace Tony (Cindy) Martinex, Magna; and Anthony Martinez, Ogden; and daughter, Maxine (Kenny) Gage, Magna; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Frank Martinez, and David (Lynn) Martinez; sisters, Virginia Sykes, Viola Hightower, Bonnie Burnsed, Rosemary Bischoff, Elenoar Haikey, Juanita Massey, and Patricia (Robert) Sheets.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Diana Maez; daughter, Sandra Diana Martinez; great-grandsons, Cameron Martinez and Jonathan Martinez; and his siblings, Felix, Freddie, Melvin, Rose Marie Diaz, and Julia Findley. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 5 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the mortuary.
