Rhea Jean Smith October 27, 1940 ~ January 3, 2019 Rhea Jean Smith, 78, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 3, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones, of natural causes. She was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the oldest of four children, to Hyrum Eugene Clark and Erva Mary Clark. She graduated from Granger High School in 1959.

The following year, Rhea met the love of her life, Stanley Rex Smith and they were married February, 9, 1960 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later sealed in the Ogden Temple. They were happily married for 58 years and together raised four children.

Her family was one of her greatest accomplishments. She held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Cub Scout leader, Primary teacher and a visiting teacher. Rhea and Stan had a wonderful life together, She enjoyed spending time with her family; they loved to go camping and ride ATV’s together.

She loved being a mom and grandmother. Some of her hobbies were crocheting, sewing, reading, shopping, and watching Dancing with the Stars. She worked as a Teacher Assistant tutoring children in reading and math for 23 years with the Weber School District.

She loved helping children succeed in school and watching them learn and gain new reading and math skills. She had many wonderful friends and enjoyed going lunch with them at Maddox and Maple Gardens. Rhea was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley, and their children, Valerie (Dave) Bierer, Mike (Brenda) Smith, Mark (Jeannie) Smith, and Monte (Nikki) Smith; one sister, Delores Sandberg, two brothers, Larry (Linda) Clark, and Arnold (Cindy) Clark. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much. Thank you to all of our friends and family over the many years for their love and support.

The family wishes to thank the following, her primary care physician, Dr. Glen Biddulph, her special friend, Cindy Lombardo, that helped take care of her, and the doctors and nurses at Ogden Regional Hospital who took care of her in her final hours. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends on Friday, January 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley, Utah 84120.
