Yoshie Yoshimura July 28, 1926 ~ January 4, 2019 Yoshie Yoshimura, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, January 4, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 28, 1926 in Winnemucca, Nevada to Kichiro and Masano Sakamoto Morimoto in the “red house” according to her birth certificate. She lived in many towns from Winnemucca to Carlin Nevada as her dad supervised many of the railroad sections along that stretch.

When the war broke out, his job was terminated. The family moved to Delta Colorado where they started farming. She graduated from Delta High School before the family moved to Utah.

On January 16, 1950, Yoshie married Tok Yoshimura in Ogden, Utah. Yoshie was a member of the Utah-Idaho Buddhist Temple, Buddhist Church of Ogden, and BWA. On the farm in Roy, she helped plant and grow many of the vegetables.

During the summer she would be out in one of the fields “hoeing” out the weeds. The weeds would not stand a chance with Yoshie. You wonder how many miles she walked throughout those years.

Yoshie is survived by her children, Calvin Yoshimura, Layton; Jeff (Alyson) Yoshimura, Farr West; Diane (Randy) Jackson, Karen (Bill) DeVries and Betty Shellabarger, all of Roy, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also has a brother, George (Kazuko) Morimoto, Mountain View, CA and a sister Midori (Mits) Mihara, Santa Cruz, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Hiroko (Jun) Kikuchi, daughter in law Ruth Anne Yoshimura and grandson Jesse Yoshimura, nieces Debbie Yoshimura and Jan Kikuchi.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Buddhist Church of Ogden, 155 North Street, Ogden. The family will meet with friends Friday January 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Buddhist Church of Ogden. Inurnment, Ogden City Cemetery Arrangements and cremation entrusted to Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary.
