Adele Hughes Chandler May 6, 1923 ~ January 7, 2019 Adele Hughes Chandler, 95 1/2, of North Ogden, passed away January 7, 2019. She was born May 6, 1923 in Salt Lake City to Theophilus and Hattie Hughes. She graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah.

In September 1944, at age 21, she enlisted in the Women’s Air Corps to serve her country during World War II. She served overseas in Casablanca, Morocco until her discharge. She married Calvin S. Chandler on October 18, 1946 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.

They made their home in North Ogden where they raised their family of five children. She served in many civic responsibilities, church callings, and enjoyed being a member of many women’s groups. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, family, and friends throughout the years.

She contributed much to her family history work, enjoyed writing, reading, and handwork. If they were winning, she enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz to her very end. The secret to her long life was See’s Chocolates and Diet Coke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin. She is survived by four daughters and one son, Carole Lowe, Barbara (Doug) Christensen, Katie (Ralph) Jaggi, Mark (Jill) Chandler, Mary (Danny) Christensen;and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adele was a much loved mother, grandmother, and friend.

The family wishes to thank the kind staff at Our House Assisted Living in Ogden for their gentle, loving care their mother. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 20th Ward, 575 East 3100 North, North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.

and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund.
