Joyce Blanche Garn, 85, passed away January 8, 2019 at the University of Utah Hospital. She has resided in Layton for 52 years. She was born November 29, 1933 in Salmon, Idaho, the daughter of Floyd and Rissie Denning.

She was one of eight children. She married Glen Knight on March 9, 1953 and had six children, divorced in 1962. Joyce married Lawrence S. Garn on August 12, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Joyce was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had many callings that she enjoyed. Her charitable acts of selfless service impacted many. For the last 30 years her love of the temple has brought her peace.

In her early years she worked at Bratton’s Grotto on 34th Harrison Blvd in Ogden, then Joyce worked at HAFB and retired. She later worked as a Realtor for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning, reading and gardening.

Her favorite thing was spending time with her family. In her later years she enjoyed indexing and serving in the temple. Surviving are her husband Larry Garn, Layton; sons, Randy (Vicky) Knight, Perri (Melody) Knight, Jeff Garn, Kevin (Tanya) Garn, daughters, Lori (Greg) Sanders, Karen (Bart) Kennington, Cindy (Bill) Bascom, Shelly (Jack) Maloney, sisters, Alifair Lewis, and Jean Keller.

Preceded in death by her two sons, Guy and Curtis Knight. Also preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Summerwood LDS Ward, 1410 E. Gentile, Layton.

Friends may visit the family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No.
