Obituary for Patsy Sue Riley (Rakes) Patsy Sue Rakes Riley, 79, of Reedville, Virginia died on October 2, 2018. Mrs. Riley was born on October 14, 1938 in Clintwood, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ernest Stuart Rakes and Genoa Dale Colley Rakes. She was married to Hylbert Vinson Riley for 53 years.

They married June 15, 1956. She loved traveling and spending time with family in the retirement years she and her husband shared. She was a bridge player, church quilter and worked in the church kitchen with Alex’s Angels.

She enjoyed spending time on Smith Mountain Lake, long road trips through the Western States and visiting the grandchildren. Mrs. Riley was a member of First Presbyterian Church on Court Square in Harrisonburg and Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kilmarnock, Virginia. Mrs. Riley is survived by her daughter, Susan Riley May and husband, Paul of Reedville, Virginia; a son, Alan Stuart Riley and wife, Adriena of Willow Springs, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Hillary May Smith and husband, Caleb, Collin Paul May, Alexa Layne Riley and Aidan Stuart Riley.

There will be a small service for immediate family at the family cemetery in Clintwood, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 1366, Kilmarnock, VA 22482. Online condolences may be sent to the family at curriefuneral.com.
