Obituary for William Holt Kling William Holt Kling, Sr, 86, of Heathsville died surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 22. 2018 at Commonwealth Sr. Living in Kilmarnock. He was born in York, PA on October 14, 1932, the son of Joseph Amon and Mary Nellye (Holt) Kling.

He is survived by his children, Susan Carol Monroe and husband Karl of Walnutport, PA, Kathy Nell Pugh and husband David of Pikesville, MD, Barbara Louise Kling of Whitehall, PA, Elizabeth Harper Kling and husband Christopher Hirschenberger of Pleasant Plains IL, and William Holt Kling Jr. of Springfield IL; and his step-children, Marc Joseph Flora and wife Gloria of Coleville, WA, Elizabeth Quinn Miller and husband Michael of Magnolia, DE, Catherine Denise Domby and husband Steph of Columbia, MD, Richard Dennis Miller and wife Nina of Elon, NC, Carolyn Jeanne Miller of Clarksville, TN, Anselm Dennis Miller III and wife Lori, of Leola, PA, and Mary Alexandra Arvai and husband Jeff of Stafford VA; and numerous grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Jeanne Matthes Kling and his brother, Joseph A. Kling, Jr. Bill was a father, grandfather and mentor who had a passion for the outdoors, singing, writing, and GOP politics. He had a lengthy and varied career as a newspaper reporter and editor as well as working in federal, state, and local politics.

Through his consulting he promoted democracy in South America, Africa, and China. He was a leading member of the Izaak Walton League of America. He served his country in the US Army stationed in Germany and North Africa.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 5, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 235 E. Church Street, Kilmarnock, where a Internment will be in St. Andrews’ Memorial Garden immediately after the service, followed by a reception for family and friends in St. Andrews’ Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Lancaster-Northumberland Interfaith Service Council, P.O. Box 868, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
