Patty’s Obituary Patty Kay Klahsen, age 80, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Henry and Lillian (Neilsen) Long on August 30, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa. She received her education from the East Waterloo School and graduated high school in 1956. Patty worked at the DX Oil Company as a bookkeeper.

On May 6, 1966, Patty was united in marriage with Henry Klahsen at the Linden Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. They made their home on Henry’s farm near Aplington. To this union two daughters Kim and Beth were born.

Through the years Patty helped Henry with much of the farming. Patty was an active member of the Washington Reformed Church rural Ackley, Iowa, where she helped with Bible school for many years and served in the kitchen for many years. She enjoyed collecting couple figurines, watches and when at action she also collected costume jewelry.

Patty passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, at the Maple Manor Village in Aplington, Iowa, during her two day stay, from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents. Patty is survived by her husband of 52 years, Henry Klahsen of Aplington; two daughters, Kim Mollenbeck of Story City, and Beth Klahsen of Des Moines; and one grandson, Kyle Mollenbeck Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in Aplington.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to Memorial Services at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in Aplington, (319)346-1534. Memorials may be directed to the family. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in Aplington is in charge of arrangements.
