Paul Bernard Bonner February 26, 1923 – December 01, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Paul Bernard Bonner, 95, passed away Dec. 1, 2018. He was born in Boston, MA, to Ann and George Bonner on Feb.

26, 1923. He graduated from Boston English High School in 1940. He continued his education at Boston University for two years before he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1942, but continued his education through November 1942 when he was assigned to the Naval Station at Newport, Rhode Island.

He then spent a brief period in D.C. where he met and married Mary Virginia (Ginny) Backe from Minnesota. The marriage took place at St. Matthews Cathedral, the same church where JFK was buried. His assignment to the Pacific on the Destroyer U.S.S. McConnell DE #163 ended as Yeoman First Class with the Battle of Iwo Jima in February 1945-1946.

Upon his completion of 44 plus months of Navy service, he returned to Minneapolis and worked for Van Paper Co. in St. Paul and Minneapolis for 40 years in marketing and sales. During that time, he joined the Knights of Columbus in 1953. Paul is survived by three children, Linda J. Dwyer, Susan B. Josephson and Richard P. Bonner; two grandchildren, Amelia Canally (Greg) and Ryan Dwyer; three great grandchildren, Declan Paul Canally, Vivian Louise Canally, and Helen Rose Canally.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.
