Paul R. Smith, 70, of Newton Falls, succumbed to an extended illness and passed away peacefully with family and friends at his side on December 22, 2018 at Trumbull Regional Medical Center. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on October 21, 1948, the son of Paul R. Smith Sr. and Lucille S. Waytowich. Paul was a 1966 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.

He married Patricia S. Martin on May 19, 1966. They relocated to Newton Falls in December of 1976. They had two sons, Paul “Wade” and Robert “Bobby” who survive.

Paul’s wife Patricia preceded Paul in death on April 12, 1991. Paul is also survived by his granddaughter Anna Henderson, his constant canine companion Onyx, and special friend Brenda Moore. He was previously employed at Smith Transfer and retired from Praxair.

He was owner operator along with his son Bobby of First Choice Auto Transport. Paul lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed camping, boating, attending auctions and flea markets, collecting antiques but most of all he enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank the unknown organ donor who gave him the gift of life, his neighbors Ron and Nancy Dalton, Robin and Lisa Harvey for their support and assistance during Paul’s illness, and his many friends who offered their assistance during this difficult time. Family and friends may call on Saturday December 29 from 9 – 10:30 AM at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls where services will be held 10:30 AM with Reverend Shawn Conoboy officiating.
