Obituary for Paul T Manning Mr. Paul T Manning, age 94, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in the V.A. Medical Center Hospice. A native of Elizabethton, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nola Colbaugh Manning. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served over twenty years in the military as a military policeman.

Mr. Manning was a member of First Christian Church, Elizabethton where he formerly served as deacon. His last service project for his Church was to pray for ten Church members weekly and would send them notes of encouragement. He loved to fish, watch the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed his grandchildren.

Fourteen people considered him as their grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Stephens Manning; five sisters, Edna Donnelly, Willa Mae Campbell, Betty Hughes, Elizabeth Hughes and an infant sister, Pauline Manning and two brothers, George Manning and Jack Manning. Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Paula Manning, Elizabethton; a grandson, Marc Gibson and wife Rachel, Charlotte, NC and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Gibson, Nathan Gibson and Logan Gibson, all of Charlotte, NC; special friends, Teresa Norris, Lanny Norris, Whitney and Landon Turner, Sara and Laban Propst, Laura Trott, Abbigail White, Alex Schnepel, Rilyn Propst, Wesley Propst, Sophia Turner and Drew Pearson.

Several nieces and nephews also survive. A service to honor the life of Mr. Paul T Manning will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, September 9, 2018 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Michael Klaus, minister, Mr. John H. Smith, minister and Dr. David Mills officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. on Sunday prior to the funeral service.

Interment will follow the service on Sunday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Chris Colbaugh, Drew Pearson, Sonny Hughes, Steve Dunlap, Charles Hayes, Kenny Carter and Jim Holdren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Class of First Christian Church, Elizabethton, his cousins and nephews.

Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. The family would like to express a special thank you to the V.A. CLC and hospice staff for their care to Mr. Manning. Those who prefer memorials may make donations to the Children’s Department, First Christian Church, 513 Hattie Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
