Paul V. McLaughlin Retired History teacher Greater Lowell Technical HS; Paul V. McLaughlin, 82, of Pelham, New Hampshire, died Sunday morning at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dawn S. (Schofield) McLaughlin, who survives him and with whom he recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, July 19, 1936, a son of the late William A. McLaughlin, Sr. and the late Rose I. (Melly) McLaughlin he attended Lexington schools and was a graduate of Lexington High School Class of 1954.

Paul graduated from Boston College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in History and Government. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Paul proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, while being stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Prior to his retirement Paul was a History Teacher at the Greater Lowell Technical High School in Tyngsborough for many years.

He also served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association. A longtime communicant of St. Patrick Church in Pelham, Paul was devoted to his parish where he served as an Eucharistic minister, visited the sick, often led the music for the morning Mass, and and was a member of the Bible Study. Paul was a man of many talents and interests.

He sang with the Barnstormers Male Chorus of New England and with Pelham’s New Greely Singers for many years. He enjoyed reading, photography, cats and all New England sports, especially the NE Patriots. However his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family including his wife, daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren, siblings and friends.

Besides his wife Dawn, Paul is survived by two daughters Karen L. Fredette and her husband Christopher of Wilton, NH and Amy M. Kruse and her husband Jason of Murray, Utah; two grandchildren Destiny Fredette and Austin Fredette; a great grandson Dean; a sister Mary Lou McLaughlin of Lexington, MA; two brothers Richard Barr and his wife Phyllis of San Diego, CA and Lawrence B. McLaughlin and his wife Della of Woburn, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Nancy Jane McLaughlin and William A. McLaughlin, Jr.. Family and friends may call at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD.

in Pelham for a Memorial Visitation from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Funeral Mass Friday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in PELHAM at 10 o’clock.
