Obituary of Paul Jones Paul C. Jones, 84, of Roanoke County, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 19, 1934. He was a son of Blaine R. and Mildred C. (Cox) Jones, who preceded him in death as well as one sister, (Elaine) and one brother, (Blaine).

Paul served three years in the U S Army, having spent 20 months in Japan, where he also worked with Christian missionaries. They had a ministry among the high school youth at Camp Drake on the Sea of Japan. After he came home, Paul married Jo Ann Jarvis and they moved to Greenville, SC where he graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelors Degree in History and the capability to teach at the secondary level.

The couple moved to Blacksburg, VA for eight months before making their home in Roanoke. He was a salesman working in the insurance industry, then with Stuart Pharmaceutical, then Wen-Don Corporation, and finally retired from the fire and rescue industry selling fire engines and ambulances along with equipment and gear. Paul’s family offers a special thanks to two Roanoke County police officers who after answering our emergency call and caring for Paul’s physical needs, stayed at our home to finish mowing our lawn on which Paul was working when the emergency arose.

Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Jarvis Jones; brothers, Clarence, William, Gilbert, Mike, Steve, Jeff and Scott; and sisters, Millie, Barbara, Judy, and his twin sister, Phyllis. Also surviving are his three daughters and their families, Susan and Johnny White, Sandy Owen, and Jennifer Walker; grandchildren, Joshua and Mallory White, Chelsea and PJ Sibold, Benjamin and Danielle Owen, Jacob Owen, and Erin and Thomas Reid; two precious great grandchildren, Maggie White and Amelia Reid; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. While flowers are appreciated, those wishing to make a memorial donation, please consider donating a bible to the Gideon’s or to the Music ministry at Bonsack Baptist Church A celebration of Paul’s life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Bonsack Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Bonsack Baptist Church. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory.
