Pauline L. Brown, 83, of Memphis, TN died at 2:33 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Ave Maria Extended Care in Memphis. Born June 17, 1935, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Paul E. and Nellie I. Karger. She graduated from G&O High School Class of 1953.

Before moving to Memphis, she worked as a dinner club manager for the Suburban Club and the Burlington Golf Club, but she really found her stride working as a men’s fragrance salesperson for Dillard’s Department Store in Memphis where she retired after more than 20 years of service. She loved to play golf and in later years you would find her at Bingo twice a week. She had a wonderful work ethic, and was a phenomenal salesperson.

She had a fabulous mind and memory always able to recall a customer’s name and beverage / product of choice. She was truly a person to behold. Survived by her daughter, Vickie (Victor) Cortese of Cordova, TN; two granddaughters, Glenna (Erik) Adamec and Andrea Baker both of Memphis, TN; and three great grandchildren, Renee, Mia and Andrew.

She was preceded in death by parents, one daughter, Margo and one brother, James Karger. The funeral service for Ms. Brown will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 14, 2018, Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home officiating. Private burial will be in Carmen Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
