Phillip Thomas “Tom” Anhalt, 72, of Burlington, died at 5:15 PM Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born January 22, 1946, in Burlington, he was the son of Phillip T. and Jean Edna Bischoff Anhalt. On August 30, 1968, he married Alice Clifford in Knoxville, IL.

Together, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He worked for Murray Iron Works as a draftsman. He was of Presbyterian faith.

He enjoyed cars, boats and motorcycles. He could fix anything. In 2014, he took a cross-country car tour with his son in a 1970 Ford Mustang.

Tom was proud of his four granddaughters, and was so excited to meet his expected grandchild. Survivors include his wife, of Burlington; one son, Tad (Jen) Anhalt of Earlham, IA; one daughter, Jenel Ransford of Burlington; and four granddaughters: Cora, Audrey, Ruby and Evelyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. Celebration of Life Services with Military Honors will be held at a date and time to be announced. Memorials have been established for the Blackhawk Auto Restorers Club and the Des Moines County Humane Society.
