Pearle Bittner, 99 years and 8 months, of Friendsville, MD, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD. Born May 30, 1919, in Confluence, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy M. and Mabel M. (Speicher) Colflesh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jonas Randolph Bittner, whom she married January 21, 1940, in Accident, MD; one grandson, Steven Wellman; two sisters, Mae Fike and Helen Tressler; five brothers, Joe, Bud, Bob, Bill and Terry Colflesh.

Mrs. Bittner worked in the Friendsville Elementary School cafeteria for 30 years and for the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, for 30 years. Pearle was very active in the Friendsville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the community, where she was an Election Judge for the Town of Friendsville and Garrett County. Everyone will remember her dry sense of humor and her excellent cooking and baking.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Paul) Wellman, Campobello, SC; Janice E. Fisher and Lois Kay Johnson, both of Friendsville; five grandchildren, Debbie (Denny) Baden, Scott (Sherry) Bittner, Barb (Jim) Huber, Amy (Jim) Ciampini and Richard Allen Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Craig (Jenna) Baden, Samantha (Chris) Johnson, Andrew Ciampini and Nicholas Ciampini; and one great-great granddaughter, Madelyn Johnson. The family would like to thank Goodwill Mennonite Home for almost nine years of very special and loving care for Pearle. During her time there, she made many special friends with so many nurses, aides and roommates, God Bless each and every one there.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave. , Friendsville, on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Myers officiating.
