Percy Melvin Kelson was born on August 20, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Surrounded by his loving family, he transitioned to eternity with his Lord on January 21, 2019, in Plano, Texas, at age 56. Percy graduated from John McDonough High School in New Orleans.

He went on to attend Southern University. While at Southern, he played the baritone horn in the marching band and joined Kappa Kappa Psi, a fraternity for college and university band members in the United States. He also joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Percy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and enjoyed a career as a news traffic controller.

His employers included Cox Cable among various others. He later enjoyed a career in collections. Percy married the love of his life, Lenora Gray, on April 19, 2003.

He and Lenora parented a son and daughter together, and the two remained united until his transition. Upon relocating to Dallas, Percy became a member of First Baptist Church Hamilton Park. Under the leadership of Dr. Gregory Foster, he was ordained as a minister of the Gospel.

He sang in the male chorus and served in family ministry. Percy later became a member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship where he sang in the male chorus. Percy was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Kelson, Sr. and Ora Walker Kelson, and brother, Melvin Kelson, Jr. Those left to cherish precious memories include his loving and devoted wife, Lenora; son, Jerrid Bryce Kelson; daughter, Enjoli Monshel Page; grandson, August Bryce Kelson; mother-in-law, Brenda Gray; brother, Edward Kelson and his wife, Gailynn; brother, Darrin Kelson and his wife, Carolyn; sister, Vanessa Kelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
