Obituary for Peter Iron Rope Peter Samuel Iron Rope “Sihala” was born on April 15, 1969 in Alliance, NE to Abel Thomas Iron Rope, Sr. and Vera High Hawk. Peter made his journey to the Spirit World on October 9, 2018 at his home in Baton Rouge, LA. Peter is a father to two sons, Sage and Gabriel and one daughter, Mackenzie.

Shortly after obtaining his GED, Peter enlisted in the United States Army Reserves and was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged on August 10, 1995 in Fort Benning, GA. Peter was known by many for his loving and generous nature. He is a sundancer, a pipe keeper, and a Native American Church Member.

Throughout his life, he touched many peoples’ lives; either through work, school, church, and our traditional ceremonial ways. Peter was known for his firmness as well as his sense of humor. We will always remember his smile, his hugs, and most of all the love he has for each and every one of us.

Peter is survived by wife, Abigail Iron Rope of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Mackenzie Iron Rope and her mother, Colleen Iron Rope both of Kearney, NE; brothers, Sandor Iron Rope of Rapid City, SD and Charles Iron Rope of Porcupine, SD; sisters, Carol Iron Rope-Herrera of Martin, SD, Crystal Shields of Oakland, NE, and Darlene Iron Rope of Sioux City, IA; uncles, Eugene Iron Rope of Ogallala, NE, Eddie Iron Rope of Scottsbluff, NE, and Wayne High Hawk of Porcupine, SD; aunts, Elizabeth Iron Rope-Patton of Rapid City, SD and Norene Lone Elk of Porcupine, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Abel Iron Rope, Sr. and Vera High Hawk; sons, Sage and Gabriel Iron Rope; grandparents, Peter Iron Rope, Sr., Susie (Poor Bear) Iron Rope, Samuel High Hawk, and Jesse (Old Shield) High Hawk; brothers, Edwin Iron Rope and Abel Iron Rope, Jr.; sister, Rita Iron Rope Sna Mani and baby girl Twi Twi Iron Rope. Visitation Services: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Mother Butler Center in Rapid City, SD with Spiritual Daniel Dion of the NAC of Charles Mix County providing services.
