Obituary of Peter Dory Peter A. Dory, 77, of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Albany Medical Center. Born August 1, 1940, in Manhattan, Peter was the son of the late John A., and Catherine M. Dory. He was predeceased by his wife Olga, sisters Marian and Andrea, and brother William.

Peter was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was retired as a substance abuse counselor for the state of New York. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Croft Corners Fire Company and recently moved to the Firemen’s Home in Hudson.

He is survived by his sisters Cathleen Powers of Middletown and Paula of Highland Falls. He is also survived by a step-son Vincent Siegfried and wife, Ellen Sauchelli and grandsons Dylan and Jake, of Long Island, and by Olga Siegfried-Dory’s daughter Elizabeth and her children, Joseph, Sherry, and Elizabeth. Numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive him.

Peter can best be remembered for his sense of humor and always wanting to help others. Friends and relatives may call from 5 to 8pm, Thursday, June 7, at Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 8, at 11am, at St. Mary’s Church, 231 Church St., Poughkeepsie.

Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Firemen’s Home: www. firemenshome.com.
