Obituary for Phillip H. Fettel Phillip H. Fettel, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 23, 1933 in Germany, the son of Heinrick and Barbara (Diehl) Fettel. Phillip married Ruth Johnson on December 10, 1955 in St. Jude Catholic Church.

Ruth had taught Phillip English because he had only spoken German. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army 511 Airborne unit from 1953 until 1955. Phillip was previously employed as a carpenter by Kennedy Construction for 25 years and at Marshall Eichmann for 22 years.

He was an excellent carpenter, building their first home on Hwy 81, 10 miles outside of the city. In 1980, they built their second home by themselves. Phillip also helped build several hospitals and clinics as well as an airplane in his garage named Mustang 2.

He was a member of the Beloit Rifle Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #191, American Legion West-Field Post #48, the Beloit Elks Lodge #864, and the Beloit Eagles Club Aerie 557. Phillip enjoyed golfing and loved animals, especially his bunny, Ms. Bunny. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth; daughter, Katherine (Nate) Jarvis; brother, Heinrick Fettel; nieces, Lydia Doll and Monica Kenis; and nephew, George Haime.

He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Emma. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Town of Rock Cemetery.

Visitation of remembrance will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
