Phyllis Nelson Taylor March 25, 1941 ~ September 22, 2018 Our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Phyllis Nelson Taylor, returned to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 22, 2018. She was welcomed by her husband and countless other loved ones, anxiously awaiting her arrival. Phyllis was born on March 25, 1941 to William J. and Edna Greenwell Nelson.

She was born and raised in Ogden, Utah, where she attended school and graduated from Weber High School. There she met her high school sweetheart and eternal companion, Keith B. Taylor. They were married in September of 1960 and sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple in 1961.

Together they were blessed with three trying children, Tammy, Kenny, and Debbie. Phyllis was blessed with a very cheerful and caring nature. Her smile and bubbly personality could brighten anyone’s day.

She loved life and faced everything, including her many challenges, with a happy go lucky attitude. Phyllis always put herself second to everyone. She would take in and care for anyone.

She loved people and to her, everyone she met was family. No one ever got left out or forgotten when Phyllis was around. When Keith’s parents died unexpectedly at an early age, Phyllis welcomed his younger siblings, Hugh, Melvin, and Gay, into their home and lovingly raised them as her own.

Phyllis loved to be with friends and family and getting everyone together for birthday parties and the holidays. She loved Christmas and her grandchildren most of all. Camping, cruising, and dressing up were also some of her favorite things.

Phyllis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, she faithfully served in many callings including primary, Sunday School, and Young Women’s. In her early years, Phyllis worked at Cutter Laboratories and as a school lunch lady.

She then took time off to take care of her aging mother and young children. She later completed cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser to support her family. Phyllis retired in 2016 after working many years at McKay Dee Hospital.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Tammy (Rob) Wallace, Kenny “Moose” (Mitzi) Taylor, and Debbie (Nelson) Woodbury; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two younger brothers, Brent Nelson and Denny Nelson, and many other nieces, nephews, in-laws, adopted children and grandchildren, and countless beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three siblings, Jerry Nelson, JoAnne Panter, and Diane McBride.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
