Dean John Sedgwick passed away September 22, 2018 after a long 13 year battle with cancer. He never complained once and was always fighting. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and those who knew him.

He has a younger brother and two younger sisters. He was raised in Logan, Utah and attended Logan High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Army in Fairbanks, Alaska at Bassett Army Hospital.

He attended the University of Utah where he graduated with his Pharmaceutical Degree in 1971. Dean was always interested in Pharmacy. His love for pharmacy started in high school and continued on through his retirement.

On September 17, 1965 Dean married Susan Irene Erickson. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. He loved her all of his life.

This year was their 53rd wedding anniversary. They had three children Scott, Megan, and Mathew. Dean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served all with love. Dean and his wife Susan have lived in Layton for the last 24 years. Dean was a friend to everyone he met, he always made friends with the little children.

He loved his granddaughters and loved to spend time with them. He would sing, recite poetry, and tell stories that would make everyone smile or laugh. Dean loved music of all kinds and loved to read encyclopedias and medical publications.

Dean is survived by his wife Susan; and his children: Scott (Jane), Megan (Nathan); and his granddaughters: Kaiya, Khloe, Kaitlyn, and Sophia. He is also survived by his brother: Keith (Marilyn) Sedgwick; and his sisters: Connie (Kent) Kasting and Janice Couch. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Mathew.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Fruit Heights 5th Ward, 24 South Country Lane, Fruit Heights, Utah 84037. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
