Obituary for Homer Edwin West Homer Edwin West left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 4, 2018. He was born on August 19, 1936 in Sayre, OK to Homer Preston West and Hattie Mae Simmons. He lived in Sayre until he graduated High School and joined the United State Marine Corps of which he served active duty and then reserves from 1953 thru 1961.

He married Olagene Baldwin in 1957 and they made their home in Hereford. They had two daughters there. Homer was in the agricultural business for 20+ years and during that time he and his family relocated to McAllen.

In 1981, he remarried Donna Eileen Boecker of Mission. They moved to Kerrville in 1990, where they raised Donna’s daughter and Homer started working in the construction business. Donna passed away in 1999.

Homer remarried Leona Reiss in 2008. Homer loved many things during his lifetime and he always went after those things with gusto. He was a fisherman, a hunter and a runner but most of all he was a follower of Jesus and he shared his faith and retained that relationship even when Alzheimer’s had taken everything else away.

His joyful attitude in life was an inspiration to all who knew him. Homer was a founding member and served as a deacon at Sunrise Baptist Church, Kerrville. Homer was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters and two wives.

Homer is survived by daughters, Linda Moore and spouse Larry of Kerrville and Donna Hornik and spouse John of League City; grandchildren, Aubry Moore and wife Ashley of New Braunfels, Travis Moore and wife Sydney of Provo, Utah, Alyssa Stephenson and husband Ryan of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Maggie Moore of Kerrville, Ryan Hornik of Austin, Amber Hornik of League City, Brittany Hornik of League City; and 11 great grandchildren.
