Obituary for Homer L. Moe Homer L. Moe, 94, of Glenview, formerly of Northbrook, passed away peacefully listening to his favorite music, June 16, 2018. Beloved husband of 63 yrs to Ferne. Father of Bruce (Judy) and Diane Moe.

Grandfather of Michelle (Paul) Carroll and Bryan Moe. Great grandfather of Erika (David) Hawthorne. Brother of Olive Kalav, Evelyn Huff, and the late Harriet Stengl, Leona; Hoglund, and Lawrence Moe.

Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Son of the Late Lawrence and Hannah Moe. Born in Chicago; Homer attended Harrison High School, while playing in the national award winning band he met his future wife.

His love of music continued throughout his entire life. A founding member of the Deerfield Band, where he enjoyed playing clarinet, he was referred to as the “ professor” for his encyclopedic knowledge of classical music. He served in the Navy during WWII and was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Quartermaster first class.

He was very active in his children’s lives, supporting and encouraging them in their many activities. His other passion was raising Bulldogs. Memorial service, Saturday June 30, 2 p.m. at the N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home 1240 Waukegan Rd, Glenview.

Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Doctors without Borders, 40 Rector Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10006. donations@newyork.
