Services for Homer R. Morgan, age 82 of Arlington, are scheduled for 11:30 AM Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Pleasantview Baptist Church in Arlington with Pastor Jimmy McNeill and Bro. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment will be 10:30 AM Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Waldrop Cemetery near Carthage.

Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Mr. Morgan died Sunday, May 12, 2019. He was born in Gainesville, Texas on February 3, 1937 to the late John Magness and Annie Loveta (Bridges) Morgan.

Mr. Morgan was a longtime resident of Tyler and Lindale before moving to Arlington in 2004. He was a former member of the Damascus Baptist Church in Lindale and a current member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church in Arlington. Mr. Morgan served in the United States Air Force and was a longtime machinist for Tyler Pipe where he retired as a supervisor in 1996.

Mr. Morgan enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Mary Morgan; daughter, Kimberly Merryfield and husband, Dan; son, Steven Morgan; 2 grandchildren, Courtney Morgan Martinez and Garrett Merryfield; 3 great grandchildren, Scarlett, Jase, and Everett Martinez. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Weir, David Weir, Dylan Merryfield, Stan Brewer, Garrett Merryfield, and Don Coughlin.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM Thursday May 16, 2019 at the Pleasantview Baptist Church in Arlington. Homer was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer March 29, 2019. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael McInnis and the entire staff of Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas for the tender care and dignity given to Granddad during his brief stay there.
