Our beloved father peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior at Willow Point Nursing Home on Thursday, June 28, 2018. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years Beverly and his parents Helen and Ralph Briggs; stepmother Irene Briggs; brothers Marsh (Helen); Cal (Dot); Bob (Jean); and sisters Elaine (Andy) Arrelin; Adelaide (Ralph) Winters; Caroline (“Red”) Marsh; and Vivian (Jim) Herlihy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Alberta and Richard Moshier. He is survived by his sisters Helga (Bob) Larson; Marilyn (Rich) Evans; and brother Eddie (Pam) Briggs; daughters Robin Doran and Bonnie Briggs; daughter-in-law Kathleen Hoch; as well as numerous nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.

Bucky was raised in Conklin and Union Center and was a long-time resident of Endwell. He began his career at IBM Endicott in the mailroom, was transferred to IBM Owego and spent the majority of his career in procurement where he loved mentoring so many young “up and comers” until his retirement. Bucky was an avid sportsman who enjoyed baseball, basketball, softball, football, fishing, bowling, golfing and dirt modified stock car racing.

Bucky had an uncanny ability to connect and touch everyone he met. Not only did he care about people, he took a genuine interest in their jobs, their families and every aspect of their lives. For this and so many other reasons, a void will be left in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He was a wonderful example of what a great human being is and he inspired everyone to be more like him. We are all better for having known and loved him. Robin and Bonnie wish to give special thanks to family friend Dan Whittaker and to all of Bucky’s friends and family who visited and loved Dad in his time of need.

We also wish to thank all the nurses and aides at Willow Point Nursing Home as well as the nursing staff at Fresenius Kidney Center in Vestal for their loving care of Dad during his illness. May God bless all of you. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00am, at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church, 312 E. Main Street, Endicott.

Burial will be held in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 4:00-7:00pm, at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bucky’s name to the Holy Nativity Lutheran Church.
