Ralph Tate, Jr., age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 6:02 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Hamilton Pointe. Ralph Tate, Jr., 90, of Evansville passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Village at Hamilton Pointe, Newburgh, Indiana. He was born September 18, 1928 in Galatia, Illinois to the late Ralph and Idress (McGill) Tate.

Ralph served honorably as a sergeant in the United States Army, graduated in engineering from Purdue University, and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Evansville. He retired from the Whirlpool Corporation as a mechanical engineer credited with numerous patents in refrigeration design and energy efficiency. Ralph enjoyed a good joke and a good tune, and he kept baseball gloves in his car just in case there was time for a game of catch.

Ralph, a disciple of Jesus Christ, loved worshipping God through music, teaching, and stewardship. At his death, he was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Evansville. The everlasting mission of he and his wife, June, is to “dwell in the house of the Lord forever”.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Virginia June (Brockett) Tate and his children, Ralph E. (Susan) Tate of Arlington, Texas and Lisa Tate of Takoma Park, Maryland. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 10 am, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5501 Washington Ave, Evansville, IN 47715, with Reverend Dr. Dennis Davenport officiating.

Burial will be at 2 pm in Old Smith Cemetery in South Twigg Township, IL. Friends may visit from 3 pm until 6 pm, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL. Friends may also visit again from 9 am until time of service, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to organizations that educate young people in the life-changing power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Arrangements are being handled by Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
