Obituary for Eugene Jackson Eugene L. “Gene” Jackson, 92, of Evansville, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Golden Living Center-Woodlands. He was born July 4, 1926 in Hopkinsville, KY to the late Beulah Williams Jackson and Emmett Franklin Jackson, Sr. At the age of 9, he and his family moved to Evansville, Indiana where he attended Lincoln School and graduated in 1945, whereupon he entered the U.S. Army. Upon returning to Evansville in 1947, he began working at International Harvester and remained with the company until local operations ceased in the mid- 1950`s.

In January 1956, he began working with Whirlpool Corporation and remained with the company for 28 years, retiring in 1984 as a General Supervisor in Compressor Assembly. His volunteer activities included roles with Junior Achievement, the United Way of Southwestern Indiana, St. Mary`s Hospital Advisory Board, Grace Lutheran Church and the Evansville Downtown Civitan Club. Eugene is survived by his sons, Paul (Taeko) Jackson of Evansville and Patrick (Patricia) Jackson of Newburgh; grandchildren, Aika Jackson and Tyoshi Jackson of Evansville, and Ian Jackson, Marisa (Xavier) Jackson Robinson and Maurice Washington (Suzette) and great grandchildren, Chrislyn Robinson and Ingrid Washington all of Los Angeles, CA.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his spouse of 69 years, Marian in November of 2018; brothers, Jesse, Emmett, Jr., Alvin and James Jackson. Visitation will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. , Evansville.

Funeral will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Cliff Herring officiating. Entombment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 6 Walnut St., Evansville, IN 47708.
