Ralph Wayne Uziel October 31, 1946 – December 27, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Ralph Wayne Uziel, 72, passed away December 27, 2018, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born October 31, 1946 in Louisville, KY to Frank Anthony Uziel and Doloris (Striet) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Uziel.

Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Zoe (Sewell) Uziel of Johnson City, TX; daughters, Cynthia Patchin and Elizabeth Uziel of Virginia Beach, VA, stepchildren Craig Smith and wife Sandra of Waller, TX, Robin Burrier of Johnson City, TX, and Rob Smith of Martindale, TX; grandchildren, Christin, Courtney, and Cameron Patchin, Andrew Lee of Virginia Beach, VA, Brian and Katie Smith of Waller, TX, Josie Wade, Neely. Lola and Grace Burrier of Johnson City, TX; and one great grandchild, Damien Patchin of Virginia Beach, VA. Ralph is also survived by his sister, Cherri Elmore and husband Doug of Taylorsville, KY; brothers, Jerry Uziel and wife Chrissy of Webster, NY, Billy Smith and wife Sara of Crestwood, KY.

Ralph enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served his country for 22 years. During his career with the U.S. Navy, Mr. Uziel served on the USS Oxford and USS Kretchmer. His tours of duty included Key West, FL, Millington, TN, Naval Base, Norfolk, VA, Japan, and Vietnam.

Retiring at the rank of Senior Chief and a decorated veteran, just some of the medals he received were the, Republic of Vietnam Medal w/one star, National Defense Medal, Navy “E” Ribbon, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and multiple good conduct awards. Ralph’s favorite hobby was fishing. He could always be found fishing in tournaments on Lake Chickahominy and others in Virginia with his fishing buddies.

He enjoyed telling fish tales and jokes with all his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A special thanks for the love and care given by the Hill Country Memorial Hospice staff and nurses for the excellent care and attention given to Ralph.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Liberty Lighthouse Fellowship located at 321 Old River Crossing, Johnson City, TX 78636.
