Lassiter, 81, Valley Falls, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at FW Huston Medical Center Hospital at Winchester. He was born Nov.

2, 1937, at Valley Falls, the son of Arthur Julian and Merle Arlene Housh Lassiter. He lived in the Valley Falls community his entire life. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1955, and had served in the US Army Reserves.

Raymond farmed for many years west of Valley Falls. He was a mechanic at Foley Service Station and Zwygart Chevrolet, both in Valley Falls, and at Clark Chevrolet in Holton. He then owned his own auto repair shop, Lassiter’s Repair in Valley Falls.

Raymond served as an elder and Sunday School teacher at the First Christian Church in Valley Falls. He married Kay E. Coleman, Dec. 5, 1959, at Valley Falls.

She preceded him in death, June 16, 2012. He is survived by three children, Lee (Rhonda) Lassiter, Topeka, Janet (James) Walbert, Lenexa, and Kenneth (Amy) Lassiter, West Des Moines, IA; six grandchildren and step-grandchildren; his brother, Jackie Lassiter, and his sister, Connie (Gary)Bernasek, all of Valley Falls; and eight nephews and nieces. The funeral service will be at 10.

30 am Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to FW Huston Medical Center Hospital and sent c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
