Raymond Allison, age 82, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 04, 2019 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born July 09, 1936, he was the son of the late Brownlow Emmitt and Gladys Burgin Allison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Allison; and two sisters, Hilda Allison Knupp and Sammie Allison Noblitt.

Having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, Raymond, following 30 years in service, retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. A member of the Black Mountain Moose Lodge #2220 and the Old Fort Masonic Joppa Lodge #401 AF&AM, Raymond at one time was the owner/operator of Crooked Creek General Store and Sarge’s Seafood Galley in Old Fort. Left to cherish is memories are his significant other, Frankie Lytle; one son, Robert Allison; one daughter, Robin Allison Watts (Clealan); and two sisters, Lottie Allison Washburn and Candie Allison McPherson (Joe).

He is also survived by one granddaughter, Brittany Nicole McCain (Jonathan); one great granddaughter, Sadie Marie McCain; one sister-in-law, Eunice Allison; one brother-in-law, Loren Noblitt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Hebron Wesleyan Church, 2504 Mt.

Hebron Road in Old Fort. A private interment will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Allison’s memory are asked to consider the A.C. “Bud” Hogan Community Center, 909 East Main Street, Old Fort, North Carolina 28762.
