Rebecca Tesner, age 47, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 1, 2019 at her home. A native of Buncombe County, Rebecca was a daughter of the late Eugene and Elizabeth Rice Holcombe. Known as “Mom” to her daughters and their friends alike, she loved taking care of her kids and grandkids and all their friends.

She liked to go fishing, enjoyed watching movies and she definitely loved her animals. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her. Rebecca leaves behind her husband of 28 years, James Penland; two daughters, Rachel Tesner and Kayla Penland, both of Marion; a brother, Dayton Rice, Jr. of Weaverville; two sisters, Kathy Robinson and Donna Rice, both of Weaverville; and two grandchildren, Braylin and Sarah.

A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Michael Penland officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
