Obituary for Raymond E Goforth Surfside Beach…. Raymond E. Goforth Raymond Earl Goforth, 84, of Surfside Beach, SC passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 surrounded by his family. Ray affectionately known as ”Whistle” was born in Kings Mountain, NC to Hall and Georgie Goforth on November 6, 1933.

After graduating from Kings Mountain High School he went on to be an MP in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. After returning to North Carolina, Ray began working as an electrician, which gave him the opportunity to move to Surfside Beach, SC. Whistle met, fell in love, and married his best friend Winnie.

Over the 34 years they were together they traveled to amazing places, learned to sail, met wonderful people and taught us all how to party. Along with the love of his life, his other passion was meeting and talking to people from all over the world that he met through his job as grounds manager at Ocean Lakes Campground. Whistle is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Bob and Bud Goforth and a sister, Elaine Goforth Clack.

Surviving in addition to his wife Winnie; a daughter, Lori Goforth Hamby (Ronnie) of Summerville, SC; a son, Ray Goforth II (Michelle) of Shelby, NC; a daughter, Ansley Isenhour (Lance) of New London, NC; grandchildren, Tyler and Hunter Hamby, Haley, Harris and Abigail Isenhour. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 2, 2018 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
