Raymond E. Nolte, 81, of Ferndale, died Sept. 3, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital. He was born March 29, 1937, son of the late Harry and Florence (Stewart) Nolte, Sr. Ray was born and raised in Kernville, the 7th of 8 children, but was a resident of Ferndale for 51 years.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Velma, Jeanie, Evelyn Furdella and Mildred Gossar. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, the former Helen Stropko, daughter Linda, married to Kevin Buck, Pittsburgh and son Larry, married to Jennifer Gossen, Virginia Beach, along with 2 grandchildren, Nicholas Nolte and Hope, married to Ian Lowe, all in Virginia Beach, and great granddaughter Kathryn Lowe. Also survived by brothers, Harry, Jr., Ferndale, and Richard, Geistown along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray was a U. S. Army veteran and a 36 year employee of Bethlehem Steel, retiring as a mechanical foreman of the Gautier rolling mills. Friends will be received 4-7 PM on Thursday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd. where service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, Msgr.
