Smith – Mary Ann, 86, of Erie, passed away August 29, 2018. Born May 4, 1932, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Radle) Brant. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 64 years, James R. Smith; four sons, Stephen W. Smith, Paul R. Smith (Rose Ann), Michael J. Smith (Nancy) and Gerald T. Smith; five grandchildren, Kelly Applin, Michelle Meadows, Jason, Zachary and Ashley Smith; three great-grandchildren, Whitman, Monroe and Lilly Elizabeth; in-laws, Thomas G. and Nancy Smith; and nieces and nephews.

While her husband was stationed at Wright Patterson AFB, Mary Ann worked at the Dayton Municipal Airport in Dayton, Ohio. Following their move to Erie, she had worked for Gray, Weber, Kern & Mackrell Architects. Mary Ann was an active member of St. James R.C. Church, the Lawrence Park Golf Club, and the Maennerchor Club, all in Erie.

Mary Ann loved golfing, shopping, music and dancing and visiting with her friends. She also was a huge Steeler fan. Mary Ann’s husband is so proud and grateful of the wonderful job she did single-handedly raising their four sons during his 20-year career flying for the Air Force.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Geistown.
