Raymond Olie Olson April 18, 1926 – January 13, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation Raymond O. “Olie” Olson, 92 years of age and a resident of Aberdeen, Washington, passed away on January 13, 2019 at Westhaven Villa in Aberdeen. He was born on April 18, 1926, at home to Mary and Howard Olson. He attended Aberdeen schools until 1944 when he joined the Aviation Cadet Program, studding airplanes and engine mechanics, then joining the US Air Force.

In 1951 he, married Betty M. Harris in Aberdeen where they made their home and raised three daughters, Shelly, LuAnn, and Karla. He started his working career as a Daily World carrier in 1942, ending with Interstate Asphalt, now Lakeside Industries where he retired as a heavy diesel mechanic in 1988. He was a hard worker all his life who could fix just about anything.

His greatest joys were family, friends, gardening, bowling, fishing, golfing and working out at the YMCA but mostly following his kids, grandkids and great grandkids in all their school activities and sporting events. Ray was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Alberta Graham; brother, Alvin Olson; daughter, Shelly Hosford, and wife, Betty Olson. He is survived by his daughters, Lu Ann (Fred) Cady; Karla (Bob) Smith; grandkids, Alisha Hosford, Troy Hodge, Willy Cady, and great grandkids, Will and Graycen Grinols.

At Rays request there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of life will be scheduled later. The family suggest memorials to Paws of Grays Harbor PO Box 415 Aberdeen, WA 98520 or YMCA of Grays Harbor, 2500 Simpson Avenue, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
