Norman Leroy Heath December 08, 1954 – March 08, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Memorial Donation Norman Leroy Heath, 64 years of age, died on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. He was born on December 8, 1954, to Ellen Marie Hyasman George and Percy Elmer Heath, Sr. and his brothers and sisters were, Percy, Corbett, Jack, Phillip, Martha, Alberta, Suzy and Paul. He was raised in various parts of Grays Harbor and attended school in Hoquiam and graduated from Aberdeen High School.

He had worked at the Harbor Thriftway prior to entering the service with the US Army in 1973. He served in Vietnam, Korea, Fort Lewis, Fort Dix and Germany. Following his discharge in 1981 he returned to the Harbor and joined the Army National Guard in 1982 and served until 1996.

The awards Norman received were the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Medal for the Expedition Korea and the Washington Accommodation Medal. He enjoyed volunteering with the Special Olympics and the football players he met at Fort Lewis. Norman’s hobbies include playing baseball and basketball.

He is a lifetime member of the VFW #1135 in Hoquiam. He had worked for the Quinault Indian Nation as a Forestry Technician and as a security guard at the casino. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A celebration of his life may be held at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel, in Hoquiam. A graveside service of inurnment is scheduled to follow at the Taholah Cemetery with a dinner to follow. Further information will follow in a few days.
