LTC (RET) Raymond “Ray” Patrick Smith, 48, of Elizabethtown, KY passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Smith was a retired from the United States Army having served two tours in Iraq and one tour in Bosnia. He was a 1992 graduate of West Point and later taught at West Point after receiving his master’s degree in applied mathematics.

Ray was also an instructor at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Xavier Smith. Survivors include three sons, Aaron Xavier Smith, Jackson Bailey Smith, Joshua Christopher Smith all of Vine Grove, KY; his mother, Jacqueline Smith of Sunapee, NH; one brother, Gregory Smith of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Deborah L. Smith of Weare, NH; and a host of family & friends.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M., Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
