Obituary of Rena Brooks Rena E. Brooks, age 94, of Painted Post, NY passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. Rena was born on December 31, 1924 in Wellsboro, PA to Roger and Irene (Catlin) Wilson and graduated from Wellsboro High School. Rena married Clyde Brooks on November 21, 1945 in Bath, NY and was predeceased by him on November 13, 1994.

During World War II she worked for Bendix as a welder. After raising five children, Rena returned to work as a playground monitor at Erwin Valley School and retired in 1982 from Corning Glass Works as a lab technician. She enjoyed reading, traveling, knitting, cross-stich, bowling, and spending time at the lake with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters: Sandra McCarthy of Houston, TX, Patricia (Steve White) Brooks of Palmyra, NY, and Penny (David) Burrows of Corning; sons: Gary (Margaret) Brooks of Corning and Chris (Susan) Brooks of Painted Post; grandchildren; Sean (Christa) McCarthy, Joseph (Johanna) Colegrove, Rick (Christine) Brooks, Melanie (Jon) Antevy, Greg (Michaela) Brooks, Christopher (Marisa) Brooks, Sarah (Travis) Warner, Nathan (Hannah) Burrows, David Burrows; great grandchildren; Ashlyn, Keeley, Troy, Morgan, Jack, Jamie, Orly, Hazel, Leetal, Christopher, Maddalyn, Hannah, Maggie, and Gracie; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her faithful companion, Fluffy. Rena was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Doris, Naomi, Leah, Gertrude, Howard, and Charles. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 25th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 26th at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mort Gridley officiating.

Interment will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
