Obituary for Rev. Bobby G. Waddell Rev. Bobby Gene Waddell, 83, formerly of Greer, husband of Ramona Potter Waddell, passed away December 13, 2018.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was born on Epiphany Day, January 6, 1936 to the late James P. Waddell, Jr. and Maude Greene Waddell. He was a graduate of Pfeiffer University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and earned a Master’s Degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Reverend Waddell served churches for forty-one years in South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Churches he served were in Olar, South Carolina, Fews Chapel in Greer, Midland Park in North Charleston, Mt. Zion and Lawrence Chapel in Central, Wesley Church in Hartsville, Trinity in Greenville, Manning UMC in Manning, Grace in Union, and Beauford Street in Gaffney. He served on many boards and many agencies including Trustee of the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, South Carolina and Trustee of the Methodist Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

He was also a member of Lions International with years of perfect attendance. Since his retirement in the year 2000, he was actively involved with Covenant United Methodist Church. Bob will be remembered by many for his sense of humor and his warm smile.

He believed in beautifying the earth, so he planted trees and flowers wherever he lived, making the world a better place-better than he found it. Survivors in addition to his wife are three daughters, Cindy Waddell of Greenwood, Susan Waddell Bynum of Seneca and Anita Waddell Brown of Seneca; one son, Bryan Waddell of Taylors; one brother, Jimmy Waddell of Greer and five grandchildren, Brittany and Jesse Bynum both of Seneca, Joshua Gallman of Seneca, and Emily and Kate Waddell both of Taylors. He was also predeceased by one brother, Milton P. Waddell and two sisters, Blanche W. Ford and Juanita W. Byars.

A service of Death and Resurrection will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Linda Guthrie and Rev. George Riser.

Interment will follow in Wood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Monday at the mortuary prior to the service. The family is at their respective homes.
