Obituary for Rev. Sherrod L. Barfield Myrtle Beach……Reverend Sherrod L. Barfield, 65 of Socastee, passed away surrounded by his family, Saturday, July 7, 2018. Born in Mullins, SC, Sherrod was a son of the late Fred and Edith Barfield.

The baby of fourteen children, he graduated from Aynor High School in 1971 and attended Lee College. Sherrod accepted the call of ministry on his life in 1973 and spent the next 45 years preaching the gospel. He organized and pastored both, Socastee Church of God and River of Life Church of God.

He will leave a legacy of love and compassion for those who felt hopeless. Sherrod will be remembered for his sense of humor and gentle spirit. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is preceded in death by brothers, Larson Barfield, Billy Barfield, Gerald Barfield, and LeGrande Barfield. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Brenda Rabon Barfield of Socastee; sons, Steven Barfield of Socastee and Jamie Barfield (Maddie) of Conway, SC; grandchildren, Bryson, Caleb, Carson, Camdyn and Emaline; brothers, Laverne Barfield (Charleen) of Canada, and James Barfield (Joanna) of Conway; sisters, Gwendolyn Whalen (Pete) of Florence, Carroll Skipper (Frederick) of Galivants Ferry, and Darlyn Adams of Socastee; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Conway Church of God.

Burial will follow at Aynor Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, July 9, 2018 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Sign an online guestbook at www.
