Obituary for Richard A. Godek Richard A. Godek, 81, a lifelong Chicopee resident, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 16, 2018, with his devoted family at his side. Born November 6, 1937, son of the late Fred and Caroline (Gielda) Godek, he was a graduate of Chicopee High School, Class of 1955. A US Army veteran, Richard served his active duty in Germany.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, enjoyed gardening, and was an avid sports fan. Richard is survived by his four loving sisters, Jane C. Labak, Evelyn F. Gendron, and Sylvia V. Fairbanks, all of Chicopee, and Kathleen J. Hughes and husband, Paul, of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank Godek and Chester Godek.

A prayer service for Richard will be held Friday at 10AM in Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by burial with military honors at MA Veterans Cemetery, Agawam. A calling hour will precede the service on Friday from 9-10AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, P.O. Box 9576, Wilton, NH 03086.
