Richard A. Sokol, 59, of Moon Twp. , formerly of Center Twp. , passed away Wednesday July 4, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born September 29, 1958 in Sewickley, he was the son of Susan (Gaydos) Sokol and the late Chester A. Sokol. Richie graduated from Center Area High School in 1977 and was a graduate of Ohio Technical School. He was a recruitment specialist who took great pride in helping young people in their education toward their career paths.

He enjoyed… Read More » traveling, reading, history, cooking, and was a proficient scuba diver, diving all over the world. Rich passed away on his favorite holiday, the Fourth of July. He loved entertaining his family and friends with elaborate cookouts and treating everyone to his fabulous fireworks display every Fourth of July.

He was known to all as “Uncle Richie”, and will be sadly missed by those who loved him. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his beloved wife of 20 years, Jolynn (Thornton) Sokol; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marian and Michael Perich, Karen Sokol-Gruber, and her husband Edward Gruber, and Pamela Sokol and her husband, Christopher McGuckin; his mother-in-law, Beverly Marchant; many loving nieces and nephews, and his two faithful feline friends, “Lani” and “Lily”. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Thornton.

Friends will be received Wednesday July 11, 2018 from 6 to 8pm in Tatalovich Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., CENTER TWP. , 3475 Brodhead Rd. , Monaca, Pa.
