Graveside services for Richard Brookshire, 77, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Berry Cemetery with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Mr. Brookshire was born January 29, 1941 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of Pearl Brookshire and Era (Haley) Brookshire, and died Monday, November 5, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Brookshire was a faithful husband, good father, hard-worker, and good listener. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. Mr. Brookshire loved his Lord and savior.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bennie Brookshire of Lufkin; daughter, Barbara Samford of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Cathy Jo Clinton of Lufkin; son, Danny Brookshire of Lufkin; granddaughter, Naomi Burrows of Diboll; granddaughter, Ariel Brookshire of Cook, MN; grandson, Logan Brookshire of Oar, MN; grandson, Stone River Brookshire of South Dakota; granddaughter, Kayley Brookshire of Douglass, TX; nephew, Will Yount of Lufkin; sister, Ineta Beck of Houston; sister, Yneta Brookshire of Houston; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Petra Loftin of Pecos, TX. Mr. Brookshire is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alton, Bobby, and Calvin Brookshire; and sisters, Barbara Jo Brookshire and Pauline Yount. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Russell, Melissa, Donna, Vernon, and the rest of the Affinity Hospice Team.

Special memorials may be made to Affinity Hospice, 2708 S. Medford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. Shafer Funeral Home, directors.
