Obituary for Richard Carl Werwath Richard Carl Werwath, 95, died peacefully in his Beloit, WI, residence on December 10, 2018. A veteran of World War II, he served as a Staff Sergeant in the 7th Armor Division in the European Theatre and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was born on September 19, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI, to Walter and Elsie (Villwock) Werwath.

In 1943 he joined the armed forces and served in the European Theatre until his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945. He married the love of his life, Catherine, on August 20, 1949. Residing in Milwaukee, together they raised three children and were members of the First Congregational Church in Wauwatosa.

He worked at Mobil Oil for 17 years before moving into the education field. Richard was a strong advocate for education, teaching welding and other trade skills in the apprenticeship program for 25+ years at MATC-Milwaukee until retirement. He will be fondly remembered for his generosity and joke telling, which brought smiles to anyone he met.

Richard is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Paul Werwath, Joanne (Steven) Erkel, and David (Sandra) Werwath; grandchildren, Rachel Erkel, Christy (Brian) Dukelow, Trent (Halley) Werwath, Natalie (Andrew) Farthing, Whitney Werwath and Callie Werwath; great grandchildren, Jameson Werwath, Eli Farthing, Emery Farthing, Grace Dukelow, and Nathanael Werwath; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with Richard’s family will be from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at First Congregational Church, 1511 Church St., Wauwatosa, WI, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Dr. Stuart Merkel and Rev.

Dr. William Trump. Burial with Military Honors will be immediately following at Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family.
