Plachy, Richard E., 93. Richland Township, passed away October 15, 2018, at home with his loving family by his side. Born January 16, 1925, in Windber, son of the late William and Irene (Garlathy) Plachy.

Preceded in death by brother, David and sisters, Irene Plachy, Alice Gardner and Mary Jane Stephens. Survived by beloved wife Phyllis G. (Popolo) Plachy; daughters, Deborah Mcgraw and Valerie Plachy; granddaughter, Raelynn Mcgraw; and great grandchildren, “my pretty girl” Cierra and “my buddy” Draveyn Plachy and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a proud WWII Army veteran.

He was a retired Welder and Lathe Operator with US Steel. Member of American Legion, Moxham PNA, VFW and a founding member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 17th at MOSKAL & KENNEDY COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 219 Ohio St., Johnstown, where a vigil service will be held.

Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fr. Walter J. Moll, Jr. Committal St. Joseph Mausoleum with military rites by VFW Post 155.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Patrick’s Church in his memory.
