Richard Earl Archias, age 93, of Goshen, Indiana, formerly of Geneva, passed away April 25, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 24, 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Pauline (Slaughter) and Earl Archias. His parents moved to Chicago, where he was raised from a young age.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Ann Joy Schoonmaker on January 10, 1948. They first lived in St.Charles, then were Geneva residents for many years.

After his discharge, Richard was a meter reader for the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, later known as Commonwealth Edison, where he worked as a foreman for 38 years, while raising his children, Susan and Andrew. He adored his grandchildren, Aaron and Andrea. Richard loved boats, trains, planes, and hobbies of all kinds, gardening and landscaping.

He worked in many art forms, from black and white photography, to model boats and planes, fine wood carving, clockmaking, and watercolor. His train set was widely enjoyed. He played piano, studied classical guitar, and was known for playing his WWII era Chromonica.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Charles) Archias-Winker of Brenham, Texas, and Andrew (Leonor) Archias of Osceola, Indiana, their children and his grandchildren, Aaron and Andrea; his sister, Shirley Van der Kloot; three nephews and a niece. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann; his brother, Don; and his sister, Betty.

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 24, 2018, at 10:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street, Geneva, with Pastor Loy Williams officiating. Private burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva, IL, will precede the memorial service. For information 630-232-8233 or visit www.
